The Chairman and Board of Directors of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) appointed Lim Seok Hui as its new CEO in April this year. In addition, Tan Ai Leen was selected to be the SIAC’s new Registrar on June 19th. The lawyers replace Minn Naing Oo, who formerly helmed the arbitration centre and fulfilled both roles.

The twin appointments come on the back of an increasing workload for the SIAC. In addition to the Centre’s recent launch of its first overseas office in Bombay, the institution also established its representative office in Seoul.

Lim is an accomplished solicitor and barrister, qualified in Singapore as well as England & Wales. She previously worked as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and has extensive experience in private practice in the M&A corporate and securities sector in Hong Kong and Singapore. She previously worked in-house with Arthur Andersen and as a private practitioner at Baker & McKenzie. In her new post with the Centre, she will oversee corporate management and business development.

Previously a senior litigation counsel with a multi-national company in Singapore, Tan joins the Centre with a background in construction disputes and international arbitration. Her role will see her head the legal team of the SIAC, which guides the administration of all cases filed with the institution.

Following the appointments, Lucien Wong, Chairman of the SIAC Board commented that the Centre’s “key management team [was] now in place, and was ready to move forward with the next stage of the SIAC’s journey as an international arbitration institution.”
