Lawyers On Demand (LOD) and AdventBalance announced on the 24 February 2016 that they will merge in a deal which will see the creation of one of the world’s largest New Law businesses with market-leading positions in Europe, Asia and Australia. The deal, the first cross-continent merger of its type, will complete in March with the new business being known as LOD in the second half of 2016.LOD launched in London in 2007 and AdventBalance launched in Australia in 2008. Today’s announcement is seen by the firms as a natural progression, doubling the size of the business and bringing together a shared commitment to better ways of working for both lawyers and clients. Post-merger, the business will have seven offices (London, Hong Kong, Sydney, Singapore, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth), over 600 lawyers and a world-class, international client base comprising over 500 companies and firms. With its expanded platform, the new business aims to take on larger, more complex projects through its increased scale and combined expertise. On the merger, John Knox, co-founder of AdventBalance, said “This merger just makes perfect sense and it is a very exciting next step for all of us. It will create unique opportunities for our people and clients and delivers a New Law venture with the scale and momentum to compete for work in an unprecedented way. I get the sense our international clients are as excited as we are.” |
