Latham & Watkins has started the year with a bang, opening an office in Beijing as part of its Greater China expansion plans. The new office complements the firm’s existing presence in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and further bolsters its US, Hong Kong and English law advisory capabilities which cover M&A, private equity, debt and equity capital markets, banking and finance, privatisations, corporate restructurings, real estate finance and project finance, regulatory and investment products, general company representation and foreign direct investment. Latham’s chairman and managing partner, Robert M. Dell, commented on the opening, “As China’s administrative, policy and regulatory hub, Beijing is an important center for our long-term growth plans in the region…. The growth potential in China and the Asia region is immense…”
