Joining an increasing number of firms keen to leverage opportunities being offered in the former pariah state, Korean-based Yulchon is the latest in a slew of firms opening in Myanmar.

The lifting of sanctions which took place last April served to liberalise a market which had been hamstrung by 50 years of rule by the military junta. Since the new government has welcomed in foreign direct investment, business in the emerging market has surged. Yulchon is positioning itself to capitalise on the increased volume of transactions and investments being concluded by Korean companies.

Partners Eric Eungyong Yang and Yong Geun Bae are helming the new office which launched on 23rd June 2014.

Yang stated “the Yangon office will play a role as an advanced base for entry of Korean businesses in Myanmar.”
