Mallesons Stephen Jaques has announced that Stuart Fuller will take over as Chief Executive Partner when Robert Milliner steps down next year.
Fuller, who has been the firm’s managing partner for five years, will officially take the helm on January 1, 2012.
He joined mallesons in 1990 and was made a partner seven years later. He made managing partner in 2006 and has led a number of client and practice initiatives in such sectors as financial market regulation and energy and resources.
Fuller has also specialised in securitisation and structured finance and is the current chairman of the Australian Securitisation Forum.
“Stuart brings to the role a range of legal and managerial skills and an outstanding reputation for delivering for our clients and the firm,” said Mallesons chairman Tim Bednall. “He has been a key member of Robert’s management team for five years, and understands intimately the firm, its clients and the international markets in which we operate.”
The partners approved the appointment at a meeting on March 30, following a short selection process that took place in accordance with the firm’s long-term succession planning.
Fuller said: “I’m very excited by the opportunity to continue to work with everyone in the firm, and our clients, to take forward the firm’s strategic direction. The firm is in a terrific position, and I plan to lead a team that is restless and relentless about achieving our next goals. I am humbled by the confidence placed in me by my partners to lead the firm over the next period.”
Milliner, who has been CEP for seven years, said: “The firm has a clear strategy for its future growth and I am confident that, under Stuart’s leadership, the firm will continue the significant momentum that we have within the firm.”
