Indonesian firms Assegaf Hamzah & Partners and Rizkiana & Iswanto announced plans on 9 September to form a partnership. The tie-up which will take place on 1st October is forecasted to up the ante on competition and anti-trust law in the former Dutch colony, specifically because these niche fields make up the firms’ collective areas of expertise.

The new partnership brings together Assegaf’s full service firm with Rizkiana’s dedicated anti-trust boutique practice. Assegaf’s practice which consists of 60 casehandlers will incorporate the 7 member team that make up Rizkiana.

The strategic association pre-empts the increased level of activity expected in the region in the run up to the ASEAN Single Market in 2016. Specifically, a spike in the number of M&A deals is anticipated, and these are expected to entail anti-trust elements.
