Allen & Overy lost a quarter of its Hong Kong office partners when it was hit by the departure of 7 of its corporate partners, including its regional corporate head earlier this month. The exits are being billed as one of the most dramatic departures ever soon from an overseas network of a magic circle firm.

The seven partners in question announced they will be joining Latham & Watkins. The US based firm has poached several high-profile corporate partners in recent months in tandem with its opening of a new Dubai office. Concern remains in Hong Kong that several A&O associates may now follow the exiting partners.
