Kirkland & Ellis International LLP has opened its second office in Asia with the opening of premises in Shanghai last week, on 8 January 2010. The firm already has an office in Hong Kong and this latest opening, which marks its tenth worldwide office, will be used to further assist clients such as global private equity firms and corporations to do business in China, as well as assist Chinese entities who are active abroad. The firm’s Hong Kong and Shanghai offices are highly integrated, with the Shanghai office led by private equity and corporate M&A partners Xiaoyang “XY” Li and Chuan Li who have both relocated from Hong Kong. They will be supported in the new office by several associates with Chinese and US legal training and experience in private equity and other M&A deals.
