What are the stand-out issues particular to the practice of corporate law in Myanmar?
The new Foreign Investment Law and the changes that will come about as a result of it are the most important factors right now. In particular, the percentage of foreign ownership and the equity of a Myanmar company will be provided in the rules to the Foreign Investment Law. These rules have not yet been issued.

Are there any key recent or imminent regulatory changes in Myanmar in-house counsel should be aware of?

Myanmar is in a period of rapid legislative change. Practically all laws are subject to modification. In particular, tax, labour and social laws are being changed.

What are the most common types of billing arrangement in Myanmar? How negotiable are fees?
Hourly rates are normally used. These rates vary depending on experience and expertise. Discounts are widely given.
