Duane Morris has announced plans to launch its inaugural office in Shanghai, pending the Ministry of Justice’s licensing approval. The new offering will be established in conjunction with Duane Morris & Selvam, its joint law venture in Asia, and will represent the firm’s first footprint in China.

Leon Yee, managing director of Duane Morris & Selvam will act as the Chief Representative of the new office. Yee commented that China was the “next natural step in [the firm’s] long-term strategy for the region” and stated that a “key intent” behind the decision to open in China was to “facilitate Chinese companies seeking to invest abroad.” The firm will focus on M&A, IP, foreign direct investment, and taxation amongst other areas of expertise.
