Singapore’s Selvam & Partners, (an associated firm of Duane Morris) has opened an office in Myanmar. Following the implementation of a series of reforms which served to open up the former pariah state to foreign investment over the last 3 years, the launch by Selvam & Partners comes on the heels of several other law firms which have recently established a presence in the emerging market.

Krishna Ramachandra, Managing Director of Selvam LLC in Singapore will spearhead the newest
office, and he will be assisted by associate director, Benjamin Kheng.

“Our team has built a strong relationship with Myanmar and its government, as a result of working closely with the Attorney General’s Office for many years. This is a natural next step for us,” commented Ramachandra.

The firm specialises in tax, licensing, regulatory, market entry, and reporting requirements. It will also advise on the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery Act. Ramachandra’s areas of expertise include M&A, capital markets, investment funds, private equity and Islamic finance law.
