Adrian Tan Singapore Lawyer

In a tremendous loss for the legal community, we bid farewell to the esteemed Adrian Tan, a legal luminary in the fields of technology, intellectual property, real estate, and shareholder disputes.

Tan joined TSMP as a partner in 2018, bringing with him a wealth of experience. He previously held a partnership position at Morgan Lewis Stamford and was a director at Drew & Napier prior to that. He also gained valuable insights while working in-house for a prominent technology company during his career that spanned over three decades.

Education played a crucial role in shaping Tan’s illustrious career. He earned an LLB degree from the National University of Singapore in 1992, followed by a BSc in Computer Science & Psychology from UniSim-Open University in 2004. He was highly regarded for his ability to merge his academic background in computer science with his legal expertise.

Beyond his legal acumen, Tan displayed a remarkable gift for writing and public speaking. As a student at NUS, he exhibited exceptional talents, winning awards as a debater and publishing the widely popular “The Teenage Textbook”, which has since been adapted to a play, movie, and television series.

His thought-provoking insights on the legal profession garnered a substantial following of nearly 38,000 LinkedIn followers. Known for his humorous and empathetic approach, he provided valuable commentary on a range of legal and other topics.

In January 2022, Tan was elected as the President of the Law Society of Singapore, a testament to his exemplary reputation and leadership. Tragically, only months into his tenure, he was diagnosed with cancer. Despite this challenging battle, Tan made a public commitment to continue in this role and showed tremendous courage and resilience until his passing. Tan was not only an exceptional legal mind but also a philanthropic individual. He served as a director at The Arts House and dedicated his expertise as honorary legal counsel for the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped.

Adrian Tan is survived by his wife and leaves behind an enduring legacy that will continue to shape the legal landscape for years to come.
