![]() China’s Guantao Law Firm headquartered in Beijing has announced its merger with Shanghai based law firm, Shenda Partners. The merger will create a law firm with over 460 lawyers in 14 cities including Hong Kong and Sydney.The new Shanghai office will now have more than 130 lawyers and is expected to generate RMB 150 million in revenue (US$ 22.6 million approx). Tao Wuping who is the former senior partner of Shenda will be the director of the Shanghai office, while Zhou Zhiming the former managing partner will be the Director of Executive Committee. <u Mr. Cui Liguo </u (co-chairman of Guantao) believes that the merger comes at the right time for Guantao in its effort to scale the development of the firm and build a more global and stronger network for itself and its clients. After looking to partner with another law firm and some fruitless attempts, Shenda Partners started their discussions with <u Mr. Sheng Leiming, </uco-chairman of Guantao’s managing committee which led to the final merger. Both the firms have decided to keep using the name ‘Guantao Law Firm’. |
