Proskauer has appointed Yong Ren as a partner in the firm’s global private investment funds group to be based in the firm’s Beijing office. Ren represents clients in all aspects of private investment funds. He joins from Mayer Brown JSM where his practice focused on representing private equity, hedge funds, funds of funds, venture capital, distressed opportunities, mezzanine, and real estate firms in the US, Asia and Europe. He also advises China-based general partners on the establishment of dollar-denominated offshore funds and RMB-denominated funds and counsels on related regulatory matters that affect the day-to-day operation of the funds in China as well as on downstream investments. Prior to Mayer Brown JSM, Ren was a lawyer in the New York offices of Simpson Thacher and Ropes & Gray. He is fluent in Mandarin and English and admitted to practice law in New York.
Squire Sanders has expanded its financial services practice group with the appointment of partner Tom Lennox, who joins the firm’s Sydney office with a team of lawyers from DibbsBarker. With over 30 years’ banking and finance experience, Lennox is recognised as one of Australia’s leading lawyers in this field. He spent 19 years at Mallesons, where he was partner in charge of the firm’s Sydney and Hong Kong offices. He was also the general counsel and company secretary for Allco Finance Group before joining DibbsBarker in 2009. A structured finance specialist, Lennox has particular experience within the aviation and real estate sectors. |
