Clyde & Co has appointed Michael Horn as a partner in the firm’s Singapore office. Horn has over 20 years of pan-Asian experience in infrastructure and structured finance, secured lending, private equity investment, distressed debt and work-outs, corporate finance, joint ventures and cross border investment, with particular emphasis on the energy and transportation industries. He also has significant Indonesian experience after serving most recently as Chief Risk Officer and a member of the Board of Directors at PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance, Indonesia’s sovereign wealth entity for infrastructure finance and development. He also served as managing director and associate general counsel of Financial Security Assurance Inc and head of Coudert Brothers’ Jakarta and Singapore offices.
White & Case has strengthened its global mining capabilities with the hire of John Tivey who joins the firm as a partner from Freehills in Melbourne, Australia, where he headed the firm’s mining practice. Tivey will lead the firm’s global mining and metals industry group from Asia where he will split his time between the firm’s Singapore and Hong Kong offices. He brings extensive experience in the mining and energy sectors, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. He previously worked as in-house counsel for both junior and major mining houses and additionally advised participants in the industry as a partner at Freehills for 14 years. Within Asia, he has deal experience in Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines, and has advised Chinese state-owned enterprises on their investments into Australia. Winston & Strawn has appointed Brinton M Scott as a partner in its Shanghai office to focus on corporate, intellectual property, and employment law matters, including M&As, joint ventures and foreign direct investments. Most recently a partner at Clyde & Co, Scott has worked in China for nearly 16 years and is fluent in Mandarin. He has extensive experience in advising Fortune 500 and large private multinational corporations on diverse high stakes projects involving acquisitions, buy-outs, and foreign direct investment in an array of industries. |
