Allens has boosted its Queensland practice with the appointment of resources infrastructure and competition lawyer Joanne Daniels as partner. Beginning her career with the Queensland Government, Daniels was previously a partner at Clayton Utz and joins the firm from Middletons. She has acted for a range of national and international clients and acts for some of the world’s largest resource companies.
Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has appointed Mathew Lewis and Seung Chong as new China corporate group partners, further strengthening the firm’s capital markets and M&A capabilities in the region. Lewis has been appointed as a partner of the Capital markets group, resident in the firm’s Beijing Office. He will initially be based in Hong Kong. As the former head of global capital markets, legal, for Morgan Stanley Asia Ltd, Lewis worked on some of the highest profile capital markets matters in recent years, including the listings of AIA Group, Samsonite and Agricultural Bank of China. Admitted to practice in New York and fluent in Mandarin, he advises on the US securities law aspects of regional and global listings. Chong has been appointed as a partner of the firm’s M&A and private equity group and will be based in Hong Kong. He has been based in Hong Kong and Beijing for over 20 years and has advised on numerous in-bound and out-bound transactions. |
