Aklea has appointed Bruno Grangier as partner in the firm’s Shanghai office. Before joining the firm, Grangier practiced for 10 years with Gide Loyrette Nouel in Shanghai, Robertsons in Hong Kong and Ayache, Salama & Associés in Paris.Grangier has advised large holding corporations, in respect of their M&A operations in China. He is member of the Paris Bar, holds an LLM in compared Chinese Law from City University of Hong Kong and a Diploma of Specialist Studies in Corporate Law, Tax Law and Accountancy.
Hogan Lovells has strengthened its international litigation and arbitration practice with the lateral partner hire of Patric McGonigal in Tokyo effective 31 October 2011. McGonigal was formerly a partner in Barlow Lyde & Gilbert’s international commercial arbitration practice, leading a team in Singapore where he acted on a broad range of commercial, insurance, international trade and trade finance disputes. He has extensive regional experience conducting arbitration cases. J Sagar Associates has appointed Promod Nair as a retained partner. He will be based in the Bangalore office. He received his LLM from University of Cambridge in 2002 where he was awarded the Clive Parry Prize in International Law. Nair joined from Herbert Smith London’s international arbitration group. He is a England and Wales qualified, and an advocate in India. Nair also sits as an arbitrator and is currently arbitrating a dispute seated in Hong Kong. Sidley Austin has appointed Anthony Jacobsen as partner in its Shanghai office effective 1 November 2011. Jacobsen has a broad capital markets and general corporate practice with a focus on advising issuers and sponsors for IPOs on the HKSE. Several transactions on which he was lead partner are award-winning deals. Jacobsen speaks fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Stephenson Harwood has enhanced its construction and dispute resolution practice in Greater China with the arrival of Martin Downey as a new partner in its Hong Kong office. Downey has practised in Hong Kong for 25 years and is recognised as a leading lawyer in the field of construction law and dispute resolution. His practice covers a broad range of construction litigation, arbitration, mediation and alternative dispute resolution in Hong Kong, Asia and internationally. |
