Baker & McKenzie.Wong & Leow has appointed capital markets lawyer Lan Hing Liew as partner in its Corporate & Securities practice. Joining from Rajah & Tann LLP in Singapore, where she was an equity partner, Liew has a decade of legal experience in capital markets transactions, M&A deals and listed companies’ corporate actions and regulatory compliance in Singapore. Her practice focuses on listings and IPOs and secondary fund raising transactions, including share placements, rights issues and bond issues, and she has also gained significant exposure to China in recent years.
K&L Gates has strengthened its Beijing office with the addition of W Rose Zhu as a partner in the firm’s Corporate practice. Zhu joins from Allen & Overy LLP, where she led the team that recently advised on the world’s largest IPO in 2010 – the global offering of common shares by the Agricultural Bank of China Limited. A native of the PRC and a top graduate of Stanford Law School, she has practised in the US, Hong Kong, and China for more than a decade, and her clients include China Construction Bank, Sinochem, Bank of China, Chongqing Machinery & Electric Co, Wolters Kluwer and several investment banks, among others. She has advised both international and Chinese companies in the areas of capital markets, M&A, and financings, and has led many groundbreaking and high-profile transactions, and also regularly counsels a number of leading PRC institutions and regulators. Shearman & Sterling LLP has boosted its Greater China practice with the appointment of Shuang Zhao as a partner in its Hong Kong office, who joins the firm from the Hong Kong office of Simpson Thacher. The New York-qualified Zhao focuses on securities offerings and M&A transactions, and has extensive experience representing Chinese issuers and leading investment banks in NYSE, Hong Kong and NASDAQ IPOs, as well as in Rule 144A and Regulation S offerings of equity, debt and convertible securities. She has advised clients from a broad range of industries, particularly in the renewable energy, education, retail and healthcare sectors. Siam Premier International has strengthened its intellectual property offering with the addition of Daniel Greif as Senior Counsel in Bangkok. Greif previously served The Coca-Cola Company for almost seventeen years in various geographies as its international trademark counsel, and from 2004 until 2010 was responsible for Coca-Cola’s contentious and non contentious trademark and other intellectual property matters throughout the Asia Pacific region. Prior to his time with Coca-Cola, Greif was senior counsel for Sony Corporation’s Trademark Group and Transactions and Licensing Group in Tokyo, and an attorney with Finnegan Henderson in Washington, DC, where he worked with a broad spectrum of clients from the automobile, electronics, computer, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, apparel, sports equipment and luxury goods industries. |
