Stamford Law Corporation has appointed international dispute resolution expert Richard Tan, the former head of the International Arbitration practice of Lovells Lee & Lee’s Singapore office and a well-respected name in the international arbitration arena. Tan has acted as counsel and arbitrator in numerous international and domestic arbitrations, including major construction and engineering disputes, commercial, technology and media-related disputes. Renowned for his immense talent and integrity, Tan serves on the panel of leading arbitration institutions in Asia and the Pacific, including the Geneva-based WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre. He is an Advisory Board member to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development on a programme for dispute resolution. He has also chaired the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators’ Arbitration Capability Enhancement programme, and is the current chair of its Scheme Arbitration committee.
Stamford Law Corporation has also appointed shipping specialist Wendy Tan as director in the firm’s dispute resolution practice. Previously a partner at KhattarWong, she has extensive experience in International Trade & Shipping. Vinson & Elkins LLP has strengthened its Middle East practice with the appointment of Sami Al-Louzi as partner. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, privatization and project finance, and has represented clients in the banking, private equity, capital markets, energy, and telecommunication sectors in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and elsewhere in the Middle East. A native Arabic speaker, Al-Louzi joins the firm from White & Case, where he was a partner. He was resident in that firm’s Riyadh office for six years and in the UAE for the past two years, prior to which he spent six years at one of Jordan’s leading law firms. He received his law degree from Jordan University in 1993 and received his LLM in International Business Law from King’s College London in 1995. |
