Joseph Seon Hur has joined Yoon Yang Kim Shin & Yu as a senior consultant with the Antitrust and Competition Practice Group. Hur was recently re-elected as Vice-Chairman of the OECD Competition Committee and was formerly the Secretary General of the Korea Fair Trade Commission. Hur has significant experience in the Korean antitrust/competition arena and is widely recognised for his long-term service with Korea’s competent authority.
Herbert Smith has appointed Surapol Srangsomwong as partner in the firm’s Bangkok office. Srangsomwong is one of Thailand’s pre-eminent litigation and arbitration specialists and will work alongside Bangkok-based partner Alastair Henderson to develop Herbert Smith’s Thai dispute resolution practice locally and internationally. Srangsomwong previously headed boutique litigation practice LawAlliance Limited. Johnson Stokes & Master has appointed Peter Macmillan as head of their newly established Competition Group in Hong Kong. Macmillan specialises in advising local and multinational corporations on competition law compliance, planning and policy issues. Macmillan has 15 years regulatory and advisory experience in competition law and policy matters in Hong Kong and overseas, including three years developing and enforcing competition law in Hong Kong’s telecommunications and broadcasting sectors. Prior to joining JSM, he was the Principal Regulatory Affairs Manager in the Competition Affairs Branch of the Hong Kong Telecommunications Authority. Dong-Kyu Shin has joined Woo Yun Kang Jeong & Han as an of-counsel. Shin’s has extensive financial expertise in Korea, the USA, and the Philippines. Previously, he held the position of Chairman & President for The Export-Import Bank of Korea. He was also a Deputy Minister of Planning & Management for the Ministry of Finance & Economy and an Advisor for Strengthening National Competitiveness for the Office of the President. |
