Farmida Bi, a partner in Norton Rose Fulbright’s banking and finance team and the Head of Islamic Finance, Europe, has been elected for a second term as the firm’s Chair for Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Among her tasks, Bi’s priorities will include ensuring the firm’s continued focus on inclusion, sustainability, community engagement, and diversity.
Bi commented “It’s a great honour to be re-elected as Chair and I look forward to working with colleagues to support the firm’s clients, particularly over the next year with the focus on sustainability initiatives, as well as ensuring we are creating a workplace that is diverse and inclusive.” Managing Partner of the firm for Europe, Middle East and Asia, Peter Scott, mentioned the notable efforts of Farmida in initiating programs to promote our corporate social responsibility work and that foster a diverse and inclusive workplace.
The solicitor has been described as one of Britain’s top five most powerful Muslim women. She more than 25 years of experience in capital markets and Islamic finance transactions and is the firm’s European Head of Islamic Finance. She has also been listed as one of the most notable names in the global legal community. She was granted the honour of a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2020 for services to the law and to charity.
