Ashurst has added Andrew Roche as a partner in the international projects group, based in Singapore. Joining from Latham & Watkins, where he has been a partner since 2014, Roche is one of Asia’s leading project finance lawyers. He has more than 15 years of experience advising on the development, project financing and acquisition of energy, resources and infrastructure projects in the Asia-Pacific region. He advises financiers, sponsors/developers, project companies and host governments on projects in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, mining and infrastructure sectors.

Maples and Calder has added Nick Stern and Quentin Cregan to its Hong Kong and Cayman Islands offices, respectively. Both lawyers will play senior integral roles within the group and will work alongside the firm’s lawyers based in the group’s BVI, Cayman Islands, Dublin, Hong Kong and London offices. Stern, formerly with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Asia, has over 20 years’ experience working on complex multi-jurisdictional disputes, insolvency and restructuring-related disputes, shareholder disputes, schemes of arrangement and court-led restructurings.On the other hand, Cregan is formerly a barrister in the UK, where he specialised in commercial disputes with a particular emphasis on intellectual property, technology, contract and commercial matters. Prior to that, he spent a number of years working in the Cayman Islands and has experience in dealing with all manner of complex financial services-related crises and disputes. Cregan also holds a doctorate in law from Oxford University.
