The winners of the In-House Teams and Counsels of the Year will be independently judged* and announced ‘live’ during the In-House Counsels of the Year Awards evening on May 10, 2018 at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Club House.

The winning legal teams, and counsel within, will be able to demonstrate a majority of the following:

  • Dedication: The team has gone over and above the normal call of duty to deliver legal and compliance services to their corporation/organisation.
  • Innovation: The team have established or put in place processes/systems to identify weak spots and improve and the organisation’s compliance and the legal team’s performance.
  • Efficiency & Value: The team is able to demonstrate the value it brings to the business unit.
  • Integration: The team has made itself an integral and valued part of the organisation at a decision making level.
  • Encouragement & Improvement: The team rewards it’s members for outstanding work and provides opportunities for it’s members to learn and grow within the company.
  • CSR & Diversity: The team, either independently or as part of corporate-wide effort practices good Corporate Social Responsibility.

Evangelos Apostolou, a seasoned legal professional, Evangelos was General Counsel, Asia-Pacific, and Partner, Ernst & Young and General Counsel, Asia-Pacific, British Telecom. Evangelos is currently a key member of the In House Practice Group, EMEA and APAC at Major, Lindsey & Africa.
Michelle Gon is a partner of McDermott Will & Emery. She is stationed at the firm’s strategic alliance office, MWE China Law Offices, in Shanghai. Previously Michelle was a Principal at Baker & McKenzie Shanghai, Managing Partner of the firm’s Taipei office, and served as the Chief Legal Officer/Vice President of Semiconductor Manufacturing International (Shanghai) Corporation, and an International Attorney for McDonald’s Corporation, headquartered in Illinois.
Crystal Lalime is Managing Director and Head of APAC Global Markets Legal, Credit Suisse. Based in Hong Kong. She is a New York qualified lawyer specializing in derivatives and securities transactions.
